Roche Blood Sugar Meter

Recall of selected glucose test strips

This blood sugar meter notice is dated February 17, 2006. Please be advised of the potential erroneous readings that may result from some diabetes Accu-Chek Advantage blood glucose test strips as outlined in the manufacturer's letter below.

Roche advises that you use your "control solutions" to verify accuracy. Please note, that once many "control solutions" have been opened, they are only valid for use for about 3 months. Because of evaporation, the glucose concentration can change in them. Please be sure that if you use a "test solution" that it is relatively new.

As an educator I suggest you obtain a lab/meter comparison if you are in doubt about your meter's accuracy. This is the most reliable way to determine if your meter/strips are accurate.

For an extensive review of accuracy issues with any glucose meter, please see here.
